Network & WiFi Troubleshooting

If you’re experiencing connectivity issues with your Sensibo device, follow this troubleshooting guide to resolve common network-related problems.

First Steps: Check Device Power

Before troubleshooting network issues, ensure your device is properly powered:

  1. Verify the device is connected to a power source
  2. Power cycle the device by unplugging it, waiting for 10 seconds, then plugging it back in
  3. Check that the LED indicator starts blinking, indicating the device is powered and ready for connection
  4. If the LED is not blinking, try a different power adapter or USB cable

WiFi Network Requirements

2.4GHz Network Compatibility

  • Sensibo devices are only compatible with 2.4GHz WiFi networks (specifically BGN)
  • They do not support 5GHz networks
  • If you have a dual-band router (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz), ensure you’re connecting to the 2.4GHz network
  • Some routers combine both bands under the same network name - try temporarily disabling the 5GHz band during setup if this is the case

Common Connection Issues

First-Time Connection Problems

  • Double-check that you’ve entered the correct WiFi password
  • Ensure you’re not using special characters that might cause issues
  • Verify that you’re connecting to the correct network name (SSID)

Previously Connected Devices

If your device was previously connected but lost connection:

  • Check if you’ve recently changed your WiFi password
  • Verify if you’ve renamed your network (SSID)
  • Ensure your router hasn’t been reset to factory settings

Signal Strength Considerations

  • During initial setup, position yourself and the Sensibo device close to the router (within 10-15 feet)
  • After successful connection, you can move the device to its final location
  • Use your phone’s WiFi signal indicator to ensure good coverage where you plan to install the device
  • Consider using a WiFi extender if the final location has weak signal
  • Try restarting your router (unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in)
  • Wait 2-3 minutes for the router to fully initialize before attempting to connect
  • Check if your router’s firmware is up to date
  • Ensure your router isn’t blocking the device (check blocked devices list)

Advanced Troubleshooting

Network Settings

  • Verify your router’s DHCP is enabled
  • Check if MAC address filtering is enabled - you may need to add your Sensibo device
  • Ensure your router’s firewall isn’t blocking the device
  • Confirm your router supports WPA2 security (recommended) or WPA

Required Ports and DNS

  • Sensibo devices connect to *.sensibo.com using ports 443 and 80
  • Ensure these ports are not restricted by your router or firewall
  • DNS access is required and must be provided via your router’s DHCP
  • Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) about any built-in firewalls or proxies that might block these connections

Connection Stability

  • Keep Sensibo devices away from metal objects or electrical interference
  • Avoid placing the device behind thick walls or metal obstacles
  • Consider the number of devices on your network - too many can cause connectivity issues

Still Having Issues?

If you’re still experiencing connection problems after trying these solutions:

  1. Factory reset your Sensibo device
  2. Try connecting to a mobile hotspot to rule out device issues
  3. Contact your internet service provider to check for network issues
  4. Reach out to Sensibo support for additional assistance

Remember: A stable internet connection is crucial for your Sensibo device to function properly and receive updates.
